Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow direct from late October through January, after all frost risk has passed, into warm, full-sun soil sheltered from strong wind. Sow seeds 3–4 cm deep, 40–50 cm apart, at the base of a sturdy trellis, netting, or bamboo teepee. Water evenly and avoid waterlogging. Days to maturity: 85–95 days. For dried storage beans, leave pods on the plant until fully dry and papery before harvesting. These beans thrive particularly well in warm regions like Tauranga but perform reliably across most of New Zealand with good summer heat.
