Phlox Blushing Bride (Phlox drummondii) is a delicate and utterly charming annual phlox with clusters of soft white flowers blushed with the palest pink at the centre. The blooms are sweetly fragrant, long-lasting, and produced in abundance from early summer through to autumn. A wonderful cottage garden annual that looks equally beautiful massed in a border, tumbling from a pot, or cut for a soft, romantic arrangement.

Growing Tips for New Zealand

Sow indoors from August onwards, or direct sow from October once the soil has warmed. Phlox prefers a sunny to partly shaded position with well-drained, fertile soil. Sow seeds on the surface or cover very lightly — they need light to germinate well. Germination time: 10–14 days at 18–21°C. Thin or transplant to 20–25 cm apart. Water regularly during dry spells and deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering. Performs beautifully throughout New Zealand and self-seeds gently in warmer regions.
