We've got a stash of lupin seeds from our garden and honestly? We're not entirely sure what colours are in there. Could be pinks, purples, reds, blues, whites — maybe bicolours, maybe something unexpected. Rather than let them sit in a drawer wondering, we thought it was far more fun to share the mystery. That's the Lupin Lucky Dip — real lupin seeds from a real garden, with a genuine element of surprise. Plant them, watch them grow, and see what you get. Sometimes the best things in the garden are the ones you didn't plan.

What to Expect

• 🌱 Easy to grow — nick the seed coat, soak overnight, sow in well-drained soil in a sunny spot and enjoy the anticipation

Growing Tips for New Zealand

Nick or lightly sand the seed coat and soak seeds in water overnight before sowing — this significantly improves germination. Sow in autumn or early spring into a sunny position with free-draining soil. Lupins prefer leaner soils and don't need rich feeding. Sow direct or into deep pots as they develop a long taproot and dislike being disturbed. Space plants 30–45 cm apart and deadhead spent spikes to encourage more blooms. Half the fun is waiting to see what colour emerges!
