Growing Tips for New Zealand
Liatris spicata grows from corms and performs best in a sunny, well-drained position. Sow seed in autumn or spring; note that seed-grown plants may take two seasons to flower. Cold stratification can improve germination — refrigerate seed in damp paper towel for 4–6 weeks before sowing. Once established, plants are drought tolerant and long-lived. Well suited to most NZ regions.
