Growing Tips for New Zealand
Lady's Mantle is a tough, adaptable perennial that thrives in a wide range of conditions. It prefers a cool, partly shaded position but will grow in full sun if kept moist. Sow seeds indoors from August to October, or direct sow in autumn ā seeds benefit from a period of cold stratification to improve germination. Transplant seedlings to their final position in well-drained, humus-rich soil, spacing 30ā45 cm apart. Once established, Lady's Mantle is very low maintenance and will self-seed freely around the garden. Cut back hard after flowering to encourage a fresh flush of foliage.
š” Grower's tip: For the best dewdrop effect, plant where morning light catches the leaves ā the sight of sunlight sparkling on water-beaded foliage is one of the garden's great pleasures!
