Habanero Yellow Chilli Seeds — Capsicum chinense
Sunshine Yellow, Serious Heat 🌶️
The Yellow Habanero (Capsicum chinense) is a strikingly beautiful chilli that packs an extraordinary punch. Bright golden-yellow pods ripen to a gorgeous sunshine hue, with a fruity, floral aroma that belies just how fiercely hot they are. These are not for the faint-hearted — but for chilli lovers, they're absolutely irresistible.
Use them fresh in salsas and hot sauces, dry them for chilli flakes, or ferment them into a fiery condiment that'll become your secret weapon in the kitchen.
⚠️ Heat Warning: Yellow Habaneros rate 100,000–350,000 Scoville units — that's up to 100 times hotter than a jalapeño. Handle with care, wash hands thoroughly after touching, and keep away from eyes. Not recommended for the chilli-shy!

Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow seeds indoors in seed-raising mix 10–12 weeks before the last frost (July–August). Habaneros love heat — use a heat mat to maintain soil temperature of 26–30°C for best germination. Transplant seedlings outdoors into a warm, sunny, sheltered spot once all frost risk has passed (October–November). Space plants 50–60 cm apart in rich, well-drained soil. Water consistently and feed with a potassium-rich fertiliser once flowering begins. Pods take longer to mature than other chillies — patience is rewarded!
💡 Grower's tip: Habaneros thrive in pots in a warm, sunny spot — a greenhouse or glasshouse will give you the best results in cooler NZ regions.
