A Classic Cottage Garden Favourite — Fully Double White Pompom Blooms on Elegant Stems

Matricaria 'Tetra' is a superior double-flowered feverfew producing an abundance of fully double, pompom-like white flowers on upright stems growing to around 60cm tall. The flowers are fully double with tightly packed white petals forming a neat, rounded bloom with a small, neat yellow-green centre — a lush, refined take on the classic feverfew flower that is highly sought after by florists and cottage gardeners alike. The foliage is the classic finely cut, aromatic feverfew leaf in fresh bright green, and the plants are prolific and long-flowering, producing stems in abundance over a long season. An essential cut flower for cottage-style posies and arrangements, and a wonderful border plant in its own right. Easy to grow and endlessly rewarding.

Why Gardeners Love It

  • 🌼 Fully double white pompom blooms — tightly packed double white flowers with a small neat yellow-green centre; a lush, full take on the classic feverfew bloom and highly prized by florists
  • ✂️ Outstanding cut flower — long straight stems and long-lasting double blooms make 'Tetra' one of the best cottage cut flowers available; perfect for posies, arrangements, and bridal work
  • 🌿 Prolific and long-flowering — produces an abundance of stems over a long season; the more you cut, the more it flowers
  • 🌱 Classic aromatic feverfew foliage — finely cut, bright green aromatic leaves that are attractive in their own right and add texture to arrangements
  • 🐝 Loved by pollinators — bees and beneficial insects are attracted to the flowers throughout the season
  • 🌱 Easy to grow — grows to 60cm — vigorous and reliable from seed; well-suited to borders, cutting patches, and cottage gardens across NZ

Growing Tips for New Zealand

Sow Matricaria 'Tetra' in trays in late winter to spring onto moist seed-raising mix; press seeds lightly onto the surface as they need light to germinate. Transplant seedlings to 30cm apart in a sunny position with well-drained soil. 'Tetra' is a reliable performer across most NZ regions and will often self-seed gently around the garden. Deadhead or cut regularly to encourage continued flowering throughout the season — it responds very well to cutting and will reward you with a continuous supply of stems. Plants may overwinter in mild NZ climates, returning the following season.
