Cosmos 'Apricot Lemonade' Seeds
Sunshine and Sherbet in Every Bloom
Cosmos 'Apricot Lemonade' is a truly enchanting variety that brings a fresh, delicate twist to the cottage garden. Each large, single bloom opens in soft, pale yellow petals that melt into a gentle pale pink centre — a combination as pretty and refreshing as its name suggests. The flowers have a luminous, almost translucent quality in sunlight, creating a beautiful, ever-changing display from summer right through to autumn. Paired with feathery, fine-cut foliage, this is one of the most charming and unusual cosmos varieties you can grow.
Why Gardeners Love It
- 🍋 Soft pale yellow petals with a delicate pale pink centre — a fresh, luminous colour combination rarely seen in cosmos
- 🌸 Large single blooms — open, elegant flowers that catch the light beautifully and sway gracefully in the breeze
- ✂️ Excellent cut flower — long stems and a soft, dreamy colour palette that works beautifully in arrangements
- 🐝 Outstanding for bees and butterflies — single blooms are especially pollinator-friendly, providing easy access to nectar throughout summer and autumn
- 🌱 Easy to grow from seed — fast-growing, free-flowering, and self-seeds gently in the right conditions
Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost, or direct sow in spring once soil has warmed. Sow seeds on the surface of moist seed-raising mix and cover lightly. Transplant seedlings to 30–45 cm apart in a sunny, open position with well-drained soil. Cosmos thrives in poor to average soils — avoid overfeeding which encourages lush foliage at the expense of flowers. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering from summer right through to autumn. Performs beautifully throughout NZ in any warm, sunny position.
