Growing Tips for New Zealand

Direct sow in autumn for spring flowering, or in spring once soil has warmed for summer blooms. Scatter seeds thinly on the surface of well-drained soil in a sunny position and rake in lightly — do not cover deeply as seeds need light to germinate. Thin to 20–25 cm apart. Coreopsis tinctoria thrives in poor to average soils and is drought tolerant once established — avoid overfeeding. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering. Self-seeds freely and will often naturalise in the garden. Performs beautifully throughout NZ in any sunny, open position.
