Black-Eyed Susan Seeds — Rudbeckia fulgida Goldsturm
The Gold Standard of the Late Summer Border
Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' is one of the most celebrated and reliable perennials in the world — and for very good reason. From late summer through to autumn, it produces a breathtaking display of rich golden-yellow daisy flowers, each with a bold dark brown central cone that gives it its common name, Black-Eyed Susan. The flowers are carried in abundance on strong, upright stems above neat, dark green foliage, creating a warm, glowing mass of colour at exactly the time of year when many other perennials are fading. A winner of the prestigious Perennial Plant of the Year award, 'Goldsturm' is a plant that earns its place in every garden.

Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' seeds in trays in late winter or spring. Surface sow onto moist seed-raising mix and cover very lightly; seeds need light to germinate. Keep warm and moist until germination, which typically takes 2–3 weeks. Transplant seedlings once large enough to handle, spacing plants 45–60cm apart. Rudbeckia fulgida thrives in a sunny position with reasonably fertile, well-drained soil, though it tolerates a wide range of conditions including clay soils and periods of drought once established. It performs reliably across most NZ regions. Divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour. Leave seed heads standing through winter for birds and garden structure.
