A Golden Gem for the Kitchen Garden

Berrygold Dwarf Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is a beautiful and productive butter bean that brings a splash of golden yellow to the vege patch. Compact and bushy, it needs no staking and fits perfectly into raised beds, pots, and smaller gardens. The bright yellow pods are easy to spot at harvest, tender and flavoursome, and a wonderful alternative to the classic green bean. A real delight from garden to table.

What Kind of Bean Is This?

  • 🫘 Prolific producer — generous crops of tender pods over an extended harvest season
  • 🍽️ Excellent flavour — tender, buttery pods great for steaming, stir-frying, or eating fresh
  • ☀️ Easy to grow — fast-germinating and low-maintenance
  • ✂️ Pick and it keeps producing — regular harvesting encourages continuous cropping right through summer

Growing Tips for New Zealand

Sow direct from October onwards once the soil has warmed to at least 16°C. Sow seeds 3–4 cm deep, 15–20 cm apart in rows. No staking required. Water regularly, especially once flowering begins, and keep picking to encourage continuous cropping. Avoid overhead watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues. Performs beautifully in all regions of New Zealand through the summer months.
