Imagine a little corner of the garden filled with flowers you can't help stopping to admire. Mother of Pearl poppies open their silky petals in soft, smoky shades, with dahlias, cheerful Candy Cane zinnias and cosmos adding their own colour and charm. Salmon hollyhocks and the rich tones of Cherry Brandy rudbeckia complete a collection full of cottage garden character.

I've brought these seven favourites together for the joy of growing a garden that feels relaxed, generous and a little romantic. Something lovely to watch over, a few flowers to bring indoors, and plenty to look forward to as the seasons turn.

A little cottage garden in seven packets

Flowers for now, and something to look forward to

Part of the pleasure of a cottage garden is watching it find its feet. With a suitable start and a little warmth, the dahlias and zinnias can bring colour in their first summer, while the hollyhocks take their time, settling in before their lovely display the following year. Each variety has its own rhythm, so the garden's story unfolds over more than one season.

Your collection comes as seven separate seed packets rather than one loose seed mix, giving you the freedom to raise each favourite in its own way and choose just the spot for it. Follow the individual sowing guidance, enjoy the small beginnings, and leave a little room for next year's flowers too.
