Growing Tips for New Zealand

Start seeds indoors from August–October in a warm, sunny spot or on a heat mat. Sow 6 mm deep in seed-raising mix and keep moist. Transplant seedlings outdoors from October–November once all frost risk has passed and temperatures are consistently warm. Space plants 40–50 cm apart in full sun. Water regularly and consistently — avoid letting the soil dry out completely. Feed with a tomato fertiliser once flowering begins. Minimal staking required due to the compact habit, but a small stake or cage will help support heavy crops. Performs well across all regions of New Zealand in a warm, sheltered spot.
