Raspberry Blooms on Stunning Variegated Foliage

Alaska Raspberry (Tropaeolum majus 'Alaska Raspberry') is one of the most eye-catching nasturtiums you can grow — and that's saying something! What sets the Alaska series apart is its spectacular cream and green marbled, variegated foliage, which looks beautiful even before the first flower appears. Add rich raspberry-pink blooms tumbling across those striking leaves and you have a plant that earns its place in any sunny border, pot, or hanging basket. A real showstopper from early summer right through to autumn.

Why Gardeners Love It

  • 🌸 Rich raspberry-pink flowers — warm, vibrant blooms that glow against the variegated foliage
  • 🌿 Stunning variegated leaves — cream and green marbled foliage that looks beautiful all season long
  • 🌱 Edible flowers and leaves — both have a peppery flavour, wonderful in salads and as a garnish
  • šŸ Excellent pollinator plant — a magnet for bees and butterflies throughout summer
  • 🌿 Easy to sow — large seeds are simple to handle and germinate quickly and reliably
  • 🩓 Compact mounding habit — the Alaska series is bushy rather than trailing, ideal for pots and borders

Growing Tips for New Zealand

Nasturtiums are one of the easiest plants to grow from seed. Sow direct into the garden after the last frost, or start in small pots and transplant. They prefer a sunny position and actually perform best in poor to average soil — too rich a soil produces lush foliage at the expense of flowers. Water regularly but allow to dry between waterings. Alaska Raspberry will flower prolifically from early summer through to autumn, and the more you pick the flowers, the more they produce. Seeds can be saved at the end of the season for next year.
