Malope Cottage Mix Seeds — Malope trifida
A Cottage Garden Classic Waiting to Be Discovered
Malope Cottage Mix (Malope trifida) is one of the great unsung heroes of the cottage garden — a tall, elegant annual with large, silky, mallow-like blooms in a gorgeous mix of deep magenta, soft pink, rose, and white, each petal delicately veined and glowing in the summer light. Fast-growing and incredibly free-flowering, Malope produces an abundance of blooms from midsummer right through to the first frosts, and the more you cut, the more it flowers. A wonderful choice for the back of a border or a cutting garden, and a real conversation starter.

Growing Tips for New Zealand
Direct sow from September onwards once the soil has warmed, or start indoors in August for an earlier display. Malope prefers a sunny position with well-drained soil and dislikes being transplanted, so direct sowing is recommended where possible. Sow seeds 5 mm deep and thin to 30–40 cm apart. Water regularly during dry spells and cut flowers frequently to encourage continuous blooming. Stake in exposed positions. Performs beautifully throughout New Zealand and may self-seed in warmer regions.
