Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow seeds in spring into a fine seed-raising mix at 18ā22°C. Seeds benefit from a period of cold stratification ā refrigerate in a damp paper towel for 4ā6 weeks before sowing to improve germination rates. Plant out into a sunny, well-drained position; Liatris dislikes waterlogged soils but is otherwise tough and adaptable. Plants will flower in their second year from seed. Well suited to most NZ regions, particularly in free-draining soils.
