Growing Tips for New Zealand
Larkspur performs best when direct sown in autumn for spring flowering, or in very early spring. It dislikes root disturbance and warm soil — do not transplant and avoid sowing in warm conditions. Sow direct into a sunny, well-drained position and thin to 20–30 cm apart. Requires cool conditions to germinate well. Best suited to cooler NZ regions such as Canterbury, Otago, and the Central Plateau, or autumn sowing in other regions.
