Growing Tips for New Zealand

Sow seeds direct into the garden or into seed trays, pressing lightly onto moist seed-raising mix — Greenthread benefits from light to germinate so cover only very lightly. Germination temperature of 18–22°C is ideal. Sow in spring once soil has warmed. Plant out into a sunny position with very free-draining soil — Greenthread is adapted to lean, dry conditions and will not thrive in rich, wet soils. Space 20–30 cm apart. Once established it is wonderfully self-sufficient and will often self-seed gently around the garden. A perfect choice for dry, sunny borders and gravel gardens.
