Growing Tips for New Zealand
Calendula is wonderfully easy and forgiving. Direct sow into a sunny position with well-drained soil in autumn or spring — it thrives in cooler conditions and is one of the best flowers for autumn and winter sowing in NZ. Sow seeds at a depth of around 5mm and thin seedlings to 25–30 cm apart. Deadhead regularly to keep the blooms coming. Calendula will often self-seed gently around the garden, returning year after year with minimal effort. Performs beautifully throughout New Zealand.
