Curly Parsley Seeds β Petroselinum crispum
Fresh Curly Parsley for Everyday Cooking
Curly parsley (Petroselinum crispum) earns its place in the kitchen garden with neatly ruffled green leaves and a fresh, savoury flavour. Snip a little over potatoes, stir it into soups just before serving, or add a generous handful to salads and homemade herb butter.
Grow a few plants near the kitchen door or tuck them into your vegetable beds for a useful leafy harvest. Parsley is a biennial, usually grown for foliage in its first year before flowering and setting seed in its second.
Why Gardeners Love It

Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow in spring or late summer to early autumn. In milder areas, autumn-sown plants can provide useful foliage through the cooler months. Choose sun or partial shade, with some afternoon shade helpful in hot, dry gardens.
Sow approximately 5 mm deep in moist seed-raising mix or directly into prepared soil. Keep evenly moist throughout germination, which commonly takes 2β6 weeks. Do not discard trays too soon. Moderate warmth, around 15β20Β°C, is suitable.
If starting in cells, transplant carefully while young to avoid disturbing the developing taproot. Space plants approximately 20β30 cm apart in fertile, free-draining soil. Water regularly during dry spells, especially when growing in pots.
Allow plants to establish before picking. Cut outer stems near their base, leaving the central growing point and plenty of leaves for regrowth. Small regular harvests are better than stripping the whole plant.
Make a fresh sowing each year for a steady supply of leafy plants. Older plants naturally send up flower stems as they move into their second year; leave some to flower if you would like visiting insects to enjoy them.
