Allium Seeds — Allium rosenbachianum
The Sculptural Bloom of Allium
When Allium Rosenbach comes into bloom, its loose, starry flower globe steals the show. Rose-violet florets and fine projecting stamens give the head a wonderfully spiky shape, and at 10–12cm across it makes a striking feature above the leaves as they begin to fade.

Growing Tips for New Zealand
Sow in spring or autumn in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Sow shallowly and keep the mix evenly moist, never waterlogged. For best germination, aim for 20–22°C; germination is expected in around 7–10 days under suitable conditions.
Grow seedlings on in a bright position, then plant in full sun with around 40cm spacing. Mature plants can reach about 90cm tall. Allium Rosenbach is a hardy perennial, but plants raised from seed can take a few years to flower as the bulb needs time to develop to flowering size. Once established, plant in groups for the best garden display. The flowers also make long-lasting cut stems.
